Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition is a re-release of the game designed for virtual reality helmets. The action takes place in the world of dark fantasy. The setting is inspired by Celtic and Norse mythologies. The plot explores the psychological horror that is going on in the mind of the main character Senui after the loss of a loved one.
A girl must make a journey to the realm of the dead – Helheim, in order to rescue the soul of her beloved Dillion, who was sentenced to execution by the “bloody eagle”. The story can also be interpreted as the protagonist’s struggle with psychosis. The path of the heroine consists of a series of trials, including a sword fight with the guards of Helheim and solving many puzzles tied to the search for rune stones.
Puzzles are based on interaction with the environment. So, Senui needs to build patterns from the shadows, find a way to overcome the waterfall so that the torch does not go out, find three quest objects in the labyrinth, etc. The voiceover belongs toDrutu, who is constantly in the head of the heroine and comments on what is happening.
At certain stages of the game there is a battle with different enemies. The heroine has two types of blow: strong and weak. Available block, dodge and the ability to parry the attack of the enemy. The mirror, which hangs on Senui’s belt, is able to glow, which means the protagonist is ready to focus and deliver a series of crushing blows. Having received the Gram sword, you can charge the blade with energy.
During the passage of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice VR Edition, you must kill two powerful warriors – Surt and Valravna, as well as a monster called Garm. The girl will visit an infernal place called the Sea of Corpses, and also break the fourth wall by talking directly to the player to follow her while she tells you all her stories.
